Junior Auxiliary of Ruston was founded in 1981 and received a charter from the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA) in 1983. NAJA is a non-profit organization founded in 1941 with headquarters in Greenville, MS. NAJA has more than 15,000 active, associate and life members in 96 chapters in 8 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee).
Junior Auxiliary is a group of women who desire to make a lasting difference in their communities by meeting the needs of its citizens, especially the children. Chapters all over the southeast develop and administer hands-on projects that embody the organization's new slogan: "Caring Hearts. Helping Hands. Changing Lives."
| The logo for JA is a five point crown which represents the virtues that JA members strive to uphold: Charity, Youth, Health, Community Service and Leadership. Junior Auxiliary represents a serious endeavor on the part of women to be active and constructive community participants and to assume leadership roles in meeting community needs. Junior Auxiliary provides the member the opportunity to serve and to be a vital part of the community. The objectives of the Association are to unite in one body all Junior Auxiliary Chapters and members to promote National and individual Chapter purposes; to encourage members to render charitable services which are beneficial to the general public, with emphasis on children; to cooperate with other Charitable 501 (c)(3) organizations.
